The sponsored walk took place on Feb the 8th 2004 to commerate the
50th Birthday of Margaret R.I.P.
Margaret was diagnosed with cancer early 2003 and died on October
7th 2003 Aged 49 . She would have celebrated her 50th Birthday on Feb 10th 2004 . Sadly it was not to be . However family
and friends wanted to commerate the occasion in a special way and organised a sponsored walk , with all proceeds going
to cancer research .
The walk started in Tullycross through Derryinver , Cashleen , visited
Renvyle cemetery - where Margaret is laid to rest , the rosary was said here and then the walk contuined on through Ardnagreevagh
, Tully and back to Tullycross , a distance of nearly 10miles .
The day was a huge success , the weather was fantastic and over 200
people took part . The money raised was E13,438.
Patrick and family would like to say a sincere thank you to all who
helped to make this walk such a fantastic event , those who walked , raised money , drivers who patrolled the walk , people
who made their houses available for toilet facilities and the ladies who made tea and sandwiches .
